Esta sexta parte de nuestro viaje al corazón del country la voy a dedicar al que es uno de los más grandes e importantes cantantes del género, el hombre que supo fusionar las raíces del western con el country popular de una forma magistral y en una amplia gama de sonidos limpios, sólidos, y con su voz firme y fronteriza siempre de relieve. Sus canciones son ya inolvidables, clásicas, y un patrimonio cultural de primera categoría.
Me estoy refiriendo a…¡Marty Robbins! El genial y ecléctico Marty, cuya voz poderosa, que nos lleva al Oeste en dos notas musicales y apenas empieza a cantar, se erige como uno de los más auténticos cantantes del Country & Western y en una de sus grandes leyendas.
En Marzo de 1974 tuvo el honor de ser el último artista en actuar en el legendario Ryman Auditorium, en el emplazamiento original del Grand Ole Opry. Igualmente, una semana más tarde fue el primero en actuar en el nuevo Grand Ole Opry House.
Un privilegio sólo al alcance de quien consiguió un puesto en lo más alto gracias a sus 94 hits y decenas de canciones de puro y genuino country & western.
Su entrada en el Country Music Hall of Fame en 1982 reconoció con justicia a ese inmenso cantante que fue Marty Robbins.
